Structural Integration (SI) is done over a series of sessions. It is a method of bodywork that utilizes many techniques to release restrictions in the fascia and postural habits that contribute to movement restriction, injury, and pain. The process incorporates your movement and works at a depth that is sensitive to your unique experience. Rather than focusing only on local symptoms, SI strategically works with the body as a whole. Often the cause of symptoms can be found far from the symptoms themselves, especially with chronic issues.
SI is done as a series of 10 – 12 sessions, depending on your needs and goals. Each session lasts approximately 90 minutes. Sessions scheduled a week or two apart are most effective. Think of your SI series as a project, with a beginning, middle and an end; neither an ongoing and endless therapy nor an isolated session. Your body will continue incorporating the changes after you have finished the series.
What should I wear for a Structural Integration session?
You will be engaged in movement throughout the session, so you are asked to wear comfortable clothing such as lightweight shorts and a sports bra, or a two piece swimsuit.
